CHRISTUS Our Daily Bread provides nutritious meals, clean clothing, personal hygiene, mental health, and medical services to the community, many of whom are experiencing homelessness. You will serve as a general volunteer, a big need is helping in the kitchen for food preparation.
To deliver groceries & hygiene supplies to over 140 families in crisis that have no mode of transportation on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in personal vehicles & alongside with other volunteers. Dress weather appropriate with active wear & closed toed shoes. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. use personal vehicles & work with other volunteer.
The county federally qualified health center that provides comprehensive primary care to under-insured and insured patients in the county. This clinic is staffed by UTMB Internal Medicine faculty providers.

We want to ensure that patients can navigate clinic information surrounding their visit with confidence by providing guidance in their own language. Main tasks students in the front desk can help with:
Make phone calls to confirm attendance of patients to the clinic
Make phone calls to provide patients with test results. (This is a really important need in the clinic, since we were told that sometimes notification of results to Spanish speaking patients gets pushed back until someone who can actually do it shows up to the clinic).
Fill out the “check in” questionnaire for patients arriving for their appointment
Answer any questions the patients may have during their visit
Have someone that guides patients to their room and guides them in the process of scheduling follow ups and any other consultation in other clinics.
