A community-clinic partnership between Galveston Central Church, Family Service Center, and St. Vincent’s focused on support and compassionate care for people with a substance use disorder. The dress code for all participants is modest, casual attire. We love scrubs, they are discouraged from being worn at Grace Clinic so that our community members feel safer and more comfortable during their visit.
Galveston Central Church opens-up their facility to all, including people experiencing homelessness, providing a warm meal, hot shower, laundry services, bike repair, and partnership to empower them in their journey of life. Work directly with older adults in a senior day program providing meaningful and purposeful social interactions while fulfilling your service-learning requirements. By partnering with Libbie's Place, you’ll play a key role in providing meaningful engagement for older adults experiencing a decline in independence while gaining valuable experience for your medical career. Participating students are required to commit to a minimum of 4 session. Once signed up, students should call Corinne Rhoades 409-741-2538 to let her know which dates will be available to attend.
Food Pantry volunteers help organize and sort food and hygiene items, pack grocery bags and snack packs, and distribute groceries, hygiene items, cleaning supplies and snack packs to clients during pantry hours.
The event is a community service initiative aimed at providing lunch to the unhoused and underserved individuals in Galveston. Hosted at Galveston Central Church, volunteers will come together to prepare and serve meals, ensuring that those in need receive a hot meal and a sense of support and community. The activities will include assembling sandwiches, plating food, and distributing the meals to those in attendance, with the goal of fostering compassion, generosity, and social responsibility. Volunteers will play a crucial role in making the event run smoothly, working together to serve food and possibly engage with community members in a meaningful way. This event will not only provide a meal but also show solidarity with those facing challenges in the area.
Mobile clinic for commercial fishermen at the fishing docks near UTMB on Harborside. Most fishermen speak Vietnamese, and some are unsheltered. As a volunteer, you will be assisting the RN in screening for high blood pressure, providing education, or performing wound care.

To deliver groceries & hygiene supplies to over 140 families in crisis that have no mode of transportation on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in personal vehicles & alongside with other volunteers. Dress weather appropriate with active wear & closed toed shoes. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. use personal vehicles & work with other volunteer.

Hospital to Home (H2H) is a student-led clinical experience aimed at connecting hospitalized patients at high risk for unmet social and medical needs with the appropriate resources. The program aims to improve health outcomes and reduce the need for future hospitalization. Students in the program help facilitate a successful transition of care by providing basic medical equipment, assessing social determinants of health, and identifying community resources to bridge those gaps. The Harmony Healers program is an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to come together to perform music for patients in the hospital and increase patient morale. Soloists (or duets if you prefer to prepare with another person in advance) who sing and/or play an instrument are welcome to attend these sessions to prepare and perform music for patients. When you arrive, you will receive information about the role of music in healing and some logistical information. Afterwards, you will go up to your assigned unit and perform for patients until 4:00pm. You should have a few pieces of music memorized to perform for patients.
